and for most part of the week i fantasized that it was!
a compact rangefinder style digital camera with almost 15M pixels that shoots incredible raw images! the canon g10!
michael reichman wrote about it, ed taylor wrote about it, its received the most clicks of all cameras on dpreview in the last five days!
it’s almost there … almost a 390 gram replacement for my 10 kilogram camera bag … almost … except for the noise above iso200. what a shame! i truely would sell off my whole canon system for a really good ‘compact’. i’m just beginning to cook my next documentary project and a small, unnoticed, camera would be perfect for shy subjects – for getting up close without a huge camera between myself and the subjects. but, and it’s a big ‘but’, i will absolutely need excellent performance in high iso.
Canon 5D ISO1600 f/8 1/25 EF24-105mm f/4 IS USM @ 28mm
so my dear 5d, our love-hate relationship continues! but maybe only until the next one.
i’ve made a resolution – monochrome only until january 1st!
i’ve even discovered the 5d has a monochrome mode hidden in it’s menus (raw files still contain all color data). i want to see monochrome, think black and white and chimp in b&w. so much more character!
