Long time biker and veteran social activist Magen Dahari leads a demonstration under the Azrieli Towers in Tel-Aviv, simultaneous to several other protests around the country. Ignited by a gas price hike earlier this year, a wave of protest has hit the country over the past few months. Protestors claim a 120% raise in water prices over the past two years of the Netanyahu government coalition, a 45% raise in prices of apartments, a 40% gas price hike, a 20% raise in prices of public transportation and an 8% decrease in unemployment compensation. “The middle class is being wiped out!” they claim quoting statistics that 67% of nationwide assets are privately owned by only 8.2% of the population and that although the country’s financial status is excellent its citizens are suffering.

Dahari seemed disappointed today as turnout was sparse and most Israelis remain indifferent.
